Since its foundation in 1997 the company has been working with customers from Austria, Germany, Sweden and the USA and provided them with automation software as well as development services in industrial automation projects.
The focus on a specific market niche allowed accumulating unique expertise in system integration, design and programming of automation software for inspection, test and measurement equipment.
Custom development of data acquisition and visualization software
Applied Systems develops measurement and visualization software that allow collecting large arrays of analog data, processing, analyzing and visualizing them. We create custom solutions for the end user or can act as an outsourcing partner to another service provider. We deliver software that is well-documented, open for future integration and supports different hardware manufacturers.
Measuring Equipment: Beckhoff Profibus, ADwin, E-Gate, Wago, Omron.
Real-time OS: TenAsys INtime, TwinCAT.
Protocols and Standards: CAN protocol, CAN bus, AK protocol, ASAM protocol.
Our staff has knowledge and experience necessary for fulfilling complex automation tasks: sensor engineering, embedded real-time programming and data transfer algorithms. Applied Systems’ customers benefit from our know-how in creating state-of-the-art troubleshooting, alarm handling and data visualization components, which are critical to the proper and efficient work of a SCADA system and even an entire plant.
Automatic checking and calibration of test and measurement equipment
Diagnostic and calibration procedures serve to determine and adjust an instrument’s accurateness in order to certify its compliance with manufacturer’s specifications and/or industry standards.
Applied Systems can develop custom software that will operate the calibration procedure of measurement equipment. To cite a sample project, we developed software for automatic calibration of complex systems for testing engine and vehicle exhaust toxicity. These systems ensure that the engine’s parameters correspond to European emission standards Euro 4, 5 and their manual calibration would take months and years. Automation is the answer to this challenge, and we are proficient in developing and implementing such solutions.
Take advantage of our diagnostic and calibration algorithms that we can adapt to your specific requirements with respect to regulatory and industry business logic.
Custom human machine interface (HMI) design
Applied Systems is proud of its portfolio of user interface design and system architecture. The design and development team is proficient in creating easy-to-use HMIs for industrial control systems. We follow a well-established which proved very efficient and allows producing a result that satisfies the customer. We create user interfaces of the whole application or we can work on particular elements of your design project (schemes, illustrations, animations, icons, controls, style guides, etc.)
Contact us if you need to create an HMI for a new product or to modernize or adjust to mobile devices the existing software.
Octopus™. Solution for automated software testing control
Quality assurance is of outmost importance when it comes to automation software since it is usually complex and errors are expensive. For the past few years software manufacturers have been increasingly using automated tests to speed up and facilitate the testing process. However, very few companies have a coherent test infrastructure and reached the advanced stage of automated testing. It means that testers still have to perform several routine activities manually each time a new build is ready: preparing environment, launching tests, submitting defects to a bug-tracking system, creating a test report. These menial activities may consume as much as 25 % of tester’s time, which reduce the overall testing efficiency.
Since 2006 Applied Systems has been working on improving test infrastructure and optimizing testing process. The company’s achievements in this field are marked by Best Paper Award at the international conference Valid 2011 in Barcelona and a publication in Testing Experience, the magazine for professional testers.
As a result, a solution for automated testing control Octopus™ was developed. It automates routine tasks mentioned above and integrates under a common user interface a customer’s test tools: test automation framework, virtualization system, build machine, version control and bug-tracking systems. We can easily customize Octopus to your company’s testing environment and procedures. Additionally, we will be happy to share our broad knowledge in the field and provide our test automation consulting services.
Groundwork™. Platform for automation systems
Groundwork is designed to automate equipment, workflow and electronics of any complexity. It is a flexible and powerful tool which allows creating custom automated solutions and integrating the equipment of different manufacturers in a single coherent system.
Groundwork has a modular structure. Each component can be reused as an independent system to solve a specific task:
- real-time data acquisition from different sources
- data storage, processing and analysis
- data visualization
- checking and calibration for measuring equipment
- alarm and error management
- user process control
The platform is easy to customize and configure to the needs of a specific client, and can be integrated in the existing or future firmware.
